Tula in the Russian National Picture of the World

Abstract

The article is devoted to the formation of the concept of Tula in the Russian national picture of the world. The article describes the informational, cognitive-figurative and pragmatic-interpretive components of the concept of «Tula» as a provincial, craft, weapons city. Tula lemma usage selection of contexts from National Corpus of Russian language, Tula State University students survey, as well as fragments of text selected by the author on this topic were used for the conduct of this scientifi c research. Linguistic analysis of the text, structural method of semantics of language unit description, conceptual analysis were used as methods of study. The research resulted in description of linguo-cognitive featured of the “Tula concept” as a fragment of Russian national cognitive and linguistic vision of the world, that has been verbalized in lexics, paremiology, fi gurative constructs of texts of different genres. It has also found its refl ection in strategies and tactics of communicative behavior in Russian ethnic group.
