Современная Россия унаследовала от Советского Союза разветвлённую сеть образовательных учреждений и некоторые традиции образования, которые обуславливаются её историческими задачами и геополитическим положением. С течением времени советские стандарты образования частично устарели, частично были искусственно отменены, а само Российское государство столкнулось с рядом новых вызовов, которые предполагают возвращение Российской Федерации в ряд мировых держав с конкурентным уровнем образования. Во внутриполитическом отношении российские вузы на своём пути к улучшениям сталкиваются с рядом задач, которые невозможно выполнить без поддержки государства и согласованной работы ряда ведомств. Этот внутриполитический аспект улучшения быта и российского образования тесно связан с международным. На повестке дня – создание российских рейтингов вузов, ориентированных на мировой рынок, специальных порталов с предложениями и рекламой ряда образовательных возможностей, а также работа, связанная с продвижением и признанием российского образования на международной арене. В статье делается обзор литературы по ключевым проблемам и характерным для последних лет тенденциям в их эволюции и развитии, сравнивается и оценивается советское наследие с современными практиками и предлагаются пути решения некоторых основных проблем на основе советского и зарубежного опыта.

Modern Russia has inherited from the Soviet Union an extensive network of educational institutions and some educational traditions, which are determined by its historical objectives and geopolitical position. Over time, Soviet standards of education have become partially outdated, partially artificially abolished, and the Russian state itself has faced a number of new challenges that involve the return of the Russian Federation to a number of world powers with a competitive level of education. From an internal political point of view, Russian universities, on their way to improvement, face a number of tasks that cannot be accomplished without the support of the state and the coordinated work of a number of departments. This domestic political aspect of improving everyday life and Russian education is closely linked to the international one. The agenda includes the creation of Russian university ratings focused on the global market, special portals with offers and advertising of a number of educational opportunities, as well as work related to the promotion and recognition of Russian education in the international arena. The article provides a review of the literature on key issues and trends in their evolution and development characteristic of recent years, compares and evaluates the Soviet legacy with modern practices, and suggests ways to solve some of the main problems based on Soviet and foreign experience.
